Women ≠ Muse (Hindi)

प्राचीन   ग्रीस   के   कालखंड   में    देवराज   ज़्यूस   की   नौ   पुत्रियों   ने   चित्रकारों   को   अपनी   सुंदरता   से   प्रेरित   किया ,  तब   से   लेकर   अभी   तक   कुछ   भी   नहीं   बदला।   चित्रकारों   को   प्रेरणा   की   ज़रूरत   हमेशा   से   रही   है। कला   के   इतिहास   के   पन्नो   का   जब   भी   संस्मरण   किया   जाता   है ,  प्रबोधन   काल   से   लेकर   प्रभाववाद   में   ख़ास   तौर   पर   सुन्दर   स्त्रियों   के   चित्र   दिखाई   पड़ते   हैl  इन्हे   अंग्रेजी   में   म्यूज़   कहा   जाता   है ,  जिन्हे   हम   वाग्देवता   के   नाम   से   जानते   है।    मगर   क्या   इस   परिस्थिति   का   विपरीत   स्वरुप   देखने   को   मिलता   है  ? प्रबोधन   काल   से   स्त्रियां   पुरुषप्रधान   कला   जगत   में   अपना   लोहा   मनवाने   के   लिए   संघर्ष   करती   आई   है।   संघर्ष   के   बावजूद   इन   महिलाओं   ने   अप्रतिम   कलाकृतियां   साकार   कर   दिखाई   है।   हलाकि   उन   चित्रों   में   पुरुषों   का   चित्रण   पाना   दुर्लभ   है।   विश्व   के   सभी   प्रमुख   कला   संग्रहालयों   में   स्त्र

Whenever we talk about the muse, western art history pops out with some exclusive examples of artists and beautiful ladies who inspired the artists ranging from Renaissance to contemporary art. India’s primitive kind of art did not give us an account of the lovely ladies who posed for the artists. Highly muse oriented works of Ravi Varma and his introduction to the western style of realistic painting first time in India made his paintings excel during the period. He exceeded all the artists of the prestigious court of Travancore and even won many national and International awards. In 1904 the imperial government awarded  Ravi Varma with Kaiser-i-Hind Medal. The award mentioned the title 'Raja' for the first time against his name.   Ravi Varma won Governor’s Gold Medal in 1873 for the painting Nair Lady Adorning Her Hair Raja Ravi Varma and brother Raja Varma left Travancore after the death of his patron Raja Aiyiliam Thirunal and settled in Bombay (now Mumbai). The Art world has not changed since ancient Greece when nine goddess daughters of Zeus motivated artists to create Aesthetically beautiful Art. They always needed muses. The long record of Art history shows us some extraordinary examples of beautiful paintings of ladies that inspired artists. Do we often see men doing the muse role? Since the Renaissance, female artists have worked alongside their fellow male artists, subduing gender discrimination to achieve a recognizable position in the Art world. They created some extraordinary art despite the struggle to exist in the art circles. Still, it is difficult to find depictions of men that were female artist’s lovers, friends and muses. Despite museums filled with beautiful female nudes, female artists were not allowed in the nude class even after a few centuries Renaissance. After looking at this fact, there comes a thought, was Renaissance was really a ‘Rebirth’ or ‘Reawakening’? Surely not for female artists. Still, female ar
